Logic Gates

Choose a gate for every slot until the whole truth table ticks.

🤔 How to play

  1. Pick a level. The truth table beside the board (under it on a phone) is your goal: for every way the switches can be set, the Target column says what each lamp must show.
  2. Tap an empty slot (the dashed box with a ?) and choose a gate from the buttons under the board. Tap the slot again to step through the gates.
  3. As you build, every row of the table gets a ✓ or a ✗, worked out from your circuit. Fill every slot so all the rows tick.
  4. Flip the switches to watch it work: wires carrying a 1 glow and current flows along them, and the tick or cross by each lamp shows whether that row is right. ▶️ Test steps through every row for you.

Keys

NOT has only one input, so it only fits a slot with one wire going in. Put a two-input gate in a one-wire slot and both of its inputs get the same signal: AND and OR pass it through, NAND and NOR flip it, and XOR always gives 0. Every level has been checked by computer, so every one can be solved. Nothing is saved: ticks for solved levels last only this visit.

What it practises

Boolean logic from GCSE Computer Science and beyond: the six gates and their truth tables, combining gates, De Morgan's laws, building any gate from NAND, and real circuits such as half and full adders, a multiplexer, a parity check and a comparator.
